Hotel Phileas Lazare & Spa - Opera

The location is perfect - very close to the train station and metro, also an enjoyable walk to many of the attractions. The rooms were exceptionally quiet and very comfortable - we loved the design details and especailly that the bathroom was separate to the shower/sink area. Loved having coffee in the room in the morning and the teas available in the lounge/cafe area near reception.

The best advantage of Hotel Phileas is its location. It is directly adjacent to exit 8 of Lazare station, making it convenient to travel around Paris. Breakfast hours were 7 AM - 11 AM, which allowed us to finish sightseeing before it got crowded, return to the hotel for breakfast, and then rest. The tea time snacks provided from 2 PM - 10 PM were also very satisfying. Although the cakes weren't great except for the madeleines, the beer was excellent. The staff, including Oliver (which I was told is a French name), were very kind and enthusiastic. The hotel also offered a free day spa, which although limited to 30 minutes, was still very helpful in relieving travel fatigue.

I had great stay at the hotel. The location is very convenient - next to Saint Lazare train station, but the area is quite quiet. And it's also a direct metro line to Orly airport (only took me 30 min to reach the hotel). The pleasant surprise was to get a room upgrade! The room I got was very spacious, the bathroom products provided were from Rituals. I also got complimentary macarons and chocolate which was a nice touch. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. I didn't use the spa facilities even though they were included in my room and didn't have breakfast. Overall I'd highly recommend this hotel, and will stay again.

My room was on the top floor with a cute little balcony with table and two chairs and a view of the street and sky; very Parisian. The bed was very comfortable; as was an armchair in the corner of the room. There was a separate desk and a small area for making tea or coffee and a fridge. A separate toilet and the bathroom was compact but clean with a good shower. The hotel lobby offered afternoon tea and cakes on an "honour system" and complimentary glasses of water flavoured by oranges or cucumber after hours. Over breakfast - which I didn't eat at the hotel but it looked fine - they had a jazz singer performing in the lobby, playing keyboard and suitable singing jazz standards, like "Autumn leaves". A nice extra touch! The hotel is within a few minutes walk of the Gare St Lazare with all its RER and Metro lines and there is a taxi rank on the street outside. Very handy. Also very close to the big shopping stores, Galleries Lafayette and Printemps.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The property itself has beautiful interior and the rooms are lovely. The bed was particularly comfortable and the toiletries from Ritual fantastic. As a solo traveler I felt safe. I usually stay at the Left Bank but I was pleasantly amused by the area around the hotel. I didn’t use the gym/spa but I had a look and I’ll try it next time. All in all, a wonderful relaxing stay with good breakfast. Access to coffee and tea in the lobby an added bonus. Saint-Lazare station is very close to the hotel and makes the entire city accessible.
